Auckland has three recognised universities.
In alphabetical order they are :

The first University in Auckland, New Zealand is -

1. AUT (Auckland University of Technology) University.

AUT University is an internationally recognised University, that provides a progression from pre-degree to PhD, with close links the professions and with industry. This creates a high employment rate after graduation.
AUT is New Zealands' newest university. Although their education history dates back to:
1895 - Auckland Technical School.
1913 - Seddon Memorial Technical College.
1963 - Auckland Technical Institute.
1989 - Auckland Institute of Technology.
Giving them a history of being involved in education for more than 110 years.
Their total student enrollment in 2010 is 23,715 (16,822 equivalent full time).
Of that number 2616 (equivalent full time) students are international.

65% of those domestic students are full time, while 35% are part time.
62% of those domestic students are female , to 38% being male.

Their research and qualifications focus on;
Applied Humanities.
Business and Law.
Design and Creative Technologies.
Health and Environmental Sciences.
Maori Development.

They have three campuses; one in Auckland near the CBD at

Massey University provides students and staff with an wide range of opportunities to develop personally, intellectually and professionally.
Massey Auckland provides 70 majors and many specialised programmes that are professionally endorsed both internationally and nationally.
All of Massey Universitys' qualifications are recognised worldwide.

The Albany campus was constructed in the early 1990’s and is located 15 minutes drive north from the CBD, over the Auckland Harbour Bridge on the North Shore.
The Albany campus has approximately 6,000 students with more than 200 staff. It has modern facilities and services to support student learning.
Massey has many international relationships and academic agreements with other universities, to provide study overseas, as well as exchange opportunities for students.

3. University of Auckland.

University of Auckland is New Zealand's largest. With over 4,000 international students from more than 90 countries deciding to study here.
Student programmes range from foundation programmes all the way to masters and PhD. Research and teaching are conducted by the Faculties of business and economics, arts, education, engineering, creative arts and industries, law, the school of theology, medical and health sciences, science, and two large-scale research institutes.
Students of the University have specialised services and support available to help them succeed in their studies.
International students also have access to iSPACE - a dedicated meeting and information area in the Student Commons including a special orientation, and organised events and activities throughout the year.
