A guide to Hibiscus Coast beaches. ( Rodney District ). North of the North Shore on the east coast.
Page 1/of 4 . Wieti River to Gulf Harbour. The Hibiscus Coast beaches start from the southern end of Rodney District, following the coast. I've had to create four separate pages to include the most significant beaches. Starting at the southern end there is -
Weiti Estuary. The beaches here are a bit muddy and difficult to access. There are two boat ramps near the end of Ferry Road.Ferry Road is narrow towards the end. Making the area less attractive than most other beaches nearby. There is a boat marina and Weiti Boating Club here also.
Arkles Bay. - Has about 600 metres of sandy beach. With a public toilet and a boat ramp.
Little Manly. - Has about 250 metres of Pohutakawa tree lined sandy beach.
Matakaitia Bay. - Has about 550 metres of sandy beach, a public toilet and a boat ramp.
Gulf Harbour boat ramp in Hobbs Bay. This is probably the best of the Rodney boat ramps because of the design, and pontoons, with a good sloping concrete ramp to the low tide mark. There's room for two boats to be handled at once. There is a pontoon that floats up and down with the tide near water level to allow occupants to step in or out of their boat, with out getting their feet wet.
