A guide to Auckland transport.
Transport. Auckland is the main gateway and transport hub to New Zealand.
The majority of international travelers arrive and depart by air through the International Airport. The Britomart Transport Centre, in downtown CBD, is the public transport hub, connecting train, bus and ferry services.
There is a free City Circuit bus.The bus goes down Queen Street to Britomart by the waterfront, then to Albert Park, Symonds Street and along Wellesley Street to the Sky Tower. The free City Circuit bus operates seven days a week, every ten minutes between the hours of 8am to 6pm. The bus is red, and powered by a hybrid electric motor. Each bus contains 30 passenger seats with a low floor entry access and wide entry/exit doors. This service allows you to see the city centre easily.
You have a choice between limousine,car, camper van, motor homes, 4WD, mini van,shuttle, taxi, bus, ferry,water taxi, airplane, helicopter, fly and drive packages,train,motor cycle, bycycle,or walking. As a visitor to New Zealand you have a wide range of destinations available to you. Where you you want to go and how much time you have available are major factors in your selection of transport. The size and shape of New Zealand also has to be considered. New Zealand is 1600 kilometres long and has two main islands, imaginatively named, - the North Island and - the South Island. People from larger countries such as U.S.A or Australia, have a tendency to be used to traveling large distances per day. In New Zealand if you travel large distances per day you likely to miss a lot and be through the country in a short time.Many of Auckland's attractions are within an hours drive of the CBD.
