The three largest Auckland museums are:
1) Auckland Museum.
If you want to get an insight into New zealand culture and history, this should be one of your first places to visit in the city. They have displays of presereved indigenous wildlife and many significant Moari artifacts accompanied by informative written information.There are also Maori cultural performances.
While your here visit the Domain Wintergardens about 200 metres below, that consist of two large glasshouses and a surrounding garden complex.

2) Museum Of Transport And Technology. ( MOTAT )
Is New Zealand’s largest and leading transport and technology collection. Covering 40 acres, MOTAT allows you to have an interactive experience with many of the technological accomplishments, that have helped make New Zealand into what it is today.

3) NZ National Maritime Museum.
In the Viaduct Basin. The displays are original from boats to life size exhibits, and include an amazing collection of models and artefacts. With many restaurants and bars close, by in case you get hungry or thirsty.
