Auckland boat trips.

Some of my favorite Auckland boat trips around the Hauraki Gulf are to:

Tiritiri Matangi Island.
If you want to see native birds in regenerating native bush this is your best option.
The island is publicly owned, and managed by the Department of Conservation.
It's being restored as a bird sanctuary where there a number of rare and endangered native birds including Little Spotted Kiwi, North Island Kokako, Takahe, Brown Teal, Red Crowned Parakeet, Whitehead, North Island Robin, Stitchbird,North Island Saddleback, Fernbird, Tomtit, and many more are found.
There's a number of sing posted walks, public toilets and an education centre beside the lighthouse.
Be prepared for walking, bring water, food and clothing suited to the weather.

Rangitoto Island.
A good option if you like walking and want views of the Wiatemata Harbour and Hauraki Gulf.
It's a publicly owned extinct volcano 259 metres above sea-level,that takes you about an hour to climb from Islington Bay through a Pohutakawa forest to see panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf from the top.

Waiheke Island.
The island is privately owned, with a friendly community living on it.
If you want to shop for arts & crafts and enjoy cafes or restaurants with locally produced wines, this is a good option.

Great Barrier Island.
Both privately and publicly owned. With large tracts of native bush and basic shops and facilities.It is renowned for fishing and scuba diving.
Also a popular destination for boats due to two good sheltered harbours.

Leigh Marine Reserve Glass bottom boat.
Can take you to observe marine life, in the marine reserve through the glass floor of the boat.
