New to Butterfly Creek is the Crocodile encounter - Two big beasts have arrived. Howick Historic Village.
The award winning Howick Historical Village is a living museum presenting life in a Fencible village during the early settlement of Europeans in Auckland.
It was opened in 1980 by the Governor General Sir Keith Holyoake.
The Village contains over 30 buildings, brought together mainly from the Fencible settlements of Howick, Panmure, Otahuhu and Onehunga and lovingly restored by the Howick and Districts Historical Society members.

Monterey Park.
Models and vintage cars.Includes Model Trains,and railway tracks. A 12 inch gauge train, running around the periphery of the complex, allows a different view of the displays. Spookers.
Just south of Auckland, in the grounds of an abandoned mental hospital is a haunted theme house.
There are three attractions. First - The former nurses' quarters have been transformed into the haunted house, which has 28 themed rooms such as the Autopsy Room and Butcher's Room. Actors jump out when you least expect it — scary stuff!
Second - is the Freaky Forest, a gravel walkway through close forest filled with actors and props.You'll encounter characters such as Freddy Kruger and Chucky.
The latest is a 3-D maze. It is made up of walls of graffiti and when you wear special glasses, the paint seems to come out of the walls and you have to work your way around, figuring out what is real and what isn't.
If anyone becomes too spooked, they throw their hands up and say "stop". The actor will then reveal himself and lead the visitor out of the forest or haunted house.
Little Spookers is a lights-on, spook-free attraction for children. Visitors to other attractions must be over 16 years of age and ID is required before entry is granted.

The Rain Forest Express.
Just 40 minutes from central Auckland, a wilderness adventure aboard Watercare's Rain Forest Express, a narrow-gauge railway located in the heart of the Waitakere Ranges. You will be taken over wooden bridges that span valleys lined with ancient forest, and pass through tunnels lit at night with a multitude of glowworms (and housing the odd cave weta!). culminating in a visit to one of Auckland's hidden treasures, the Upper Nihotupu Dam.
The train driver will tell the story of the Rain Forest Express from its role in building the dams which now help to sustain Ak, through to its use today.
After visiting the dam, you can walk to Seaver's Camp, overlooking the Nihotupu Valley and Manukau Harbour.The train will collect you from the Camp and give you a ride back to the Depot.
